On Saturday, the Mules Wrestling team was in action at the Lawrenceville Tournament. The Mules picked up victories from Carter Poole at 106, 2 wins by Jedd Wellen at 126, Braxton Kirk at 165, and Hayden Felowitz at 285. Medalists were Carter Poole-2nd Place, Jedd Wellen-2nd Place, and Hayden Felowitz-6th Place
HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS WRESTLING:
The Lady Mules Wrestlers were also in action Saturday at the Benton Invitational. The Lady Mules fell to Marion 54-24 and West Frankfort 36-30, but picked up their first ever win over Pinckneyville 36-17. Victories were earned by Remi Taylor-3/0, Addison Churchill-3/0, Ashlynn Blevins-3/0, Macy McCulley-2/1, Destiny Cox-2/1, Brinna Fox-Cook-1/2, and Kami Sager-1/2.

On Monday night, the Lady Mules were on the road for a tough conference matchup at Carmi-White County. The Lady Mules came up short against the Lady Bulldogs, falling by a score of 46-31. The Lady Mules fall to 3-5 on the year while Carmi-White County moves to 8-0. The Lady Mules will be in action again on Thursday at the Mule Barn versus Wayne City.

The St. Louis Blues go for their third win in a row when they host the Boston Bruins at Enterprise Center tonight. The Blues are coming off a 4-3 win over Montreal on the road on Sunday. St. Louis is tied for sixth place in the Central Division with 29 points. Tonight’s game starts at 7:00PM. Jordan Binnington is bringing home some hardware. The Blues goaltender was named the Sports Personality of the Year at the Jack Buck Awards yesterday. The award is given to the best sports figure in St. Louis each year. Binnington is the first Blues player or coach to win the award since Craig Berube did so in 2019. The 32-year-old has a career-worst .875 save percentage this year.
The Chicago Blackhawks are making some roster moves. The team sent defenseman Sam Rinzel and forward Landon Slaggert down to Rockford yesterday. The Hawks didn’t announce any corresponding moves. Rinzel has one goal and seven assists in 28 games this season, while Slaggert has just one goal in ten appearances. The Blackhawks host the New York Rangers tomorrow.

(Cincinnati, OH) — The Bengals will likely be without their star edge rusher for the remainder of the season. ESPN reports that Cincinnati defensive end Trey Hendrickson is set to undergo core muscle surgery later this week and is unlikely to play again this year. The four-time Pro Bowler has been sidelined for the past five games because of an undisclosed issue and saw a specialist that determined a procedure will be required after rest and rehab did not repair the injury. The 31-year-old has totaled 16 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble in seven games played this season.

(Berea, OH) — The Browns are naming rookie Shedeur Sanders their starting quarterback for the final four games of the season. Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski made the announcement Monday after Sanders made his third career start in Week 14. The 23-year-old accounted for 394 total yards and four touchdowns in the team’s loss to the Tennessee Titans this past Sunday. Sanders began his career as the team’s fourth-string quarterback after being selected in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He has completed 52.4-percent of his passed for 769 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions this season.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The Colts continue to deal with injury issues. Head coach Shane Steichen said quarterback Riley Leonard reported an unspecified knee problem to the team’s medical staff Monday morning. Leonard replaced injured starter Daniel Jones after he suffered a torn Achilles in Sunday’s loss to the Jaguars. The Colts remain hopeful Leonard will play in Week 15 against the Seahawks. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Tampa Bay will sign defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul to its practice squad after a successful try-out. Pierre-Paul played four seasons with the Buccaneers, accumulating 33 sacks and helping the team take home the Super Bowl 55 title. He last played in the NFL in 2023 with the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins.

Morris was hurt on the game’s opening snap when he was rolled up on by center Creed Humphrey while run blocking.

New York visits the Raptors after Toronto won East Group A with a 4-and-0 record. On Wednesday, a rematch is slated between the West Group A winning Thunder and the Suns. OKC went 4-and-0 while Phoenix finished 3-and-1. The quarterfinals wrap up with the 4-and-0 West Group B winning Lakers hosting the 3-and-1 West Group C winning Spurs.

Free agent first baseman Pete Alonso is reportedly in attendance in Orlando and is set to meet with the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles. Alonso hit .272 with 38 home runs and 126 RBIs this season with the New York Mets. In other news, ESPN reported that Kyle Schwarber could be the first high-profile free agent off the market. The Phillies, Reds, Pirates and Mets have been linked to Schwarber. On Tuesday, MLB will hold its draft lottery. The Chicago White Sox have the best chance at landing the top pick at 27.73 percent.

For the Rockies, it is due to picking in each of the past two lotteries while receiving revenue sharing, while the Nationals and Angels pay into revenue sharing and picked in the lottery last season.

The winner will be announced Saturday in New York. The Heisman Trophy is given each year to the nation’s most outstanding college football player.

Nebraska is 22nd and Virginia is 25th after not being included in last week’s poll. Kentucky and Indiana are the two schools that dropped out of the top 25.
