NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAYS COLDER WEATHER ON THE WAY

The National Weather Service says colder weather is on the way for later in the weekend.

Breezy conditions are anticipated as a pressure difference intensifies across the region. These winds will be closely monitored and are expected to increase significantly.

This weather pattern precedes an approaching cold front. As the front passes through today, winds will shift to the west and northwest. A word of caution: as the front moves through, there is a slight chance of light rain showers or even some wet snow flurries.

Looking ahead, weather models indicate another system moving in on Thursday, bringing a slight chance for sprinkles or flurries, especially along areas like Interstate 64 and southwest Indiana. Friday may bring a brief warm-up before another cold push.

The main headline, however, is the weekend forecast. A significant cooldown is expected to begin Saturday, with temperatures dropping sharply. Much colder-than-normal air will settle in and persist into early next week. Lows on Saturday and Sunday nights could fall into the 10 to 20 degree range, with wind chills possibly making it feel even colder—potentially near zero.
