The National Weather Service in Paducah is forecasting a dramatic shift in temperatures following a cold weekend, with a significant warm-up expected this week. Temperatures will steadily climb, with Tuesday bringing much milder conditions than recent days. By Thursday, highs are expected to soar well above seasonal averages, potentially reaching the upper 50s and lower 60s as a southerly flow pushes warmer air into the region.
However, the warm spell comes with a downside. A storm system will move in Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing widespread showers across the area. Some locations could see a half-inch of rain or more. Isolated thunderstorms are possible, along with higher wind gusts, especially in heavier downpours.
A brief cool-down is expected on Friday, with temperatures dipping back down and a return to chilly conditions. The colder air won’t last long, though, as another warm-up is forecast for the weekend, with highs climbing back into the 50s.
Residents are advised to stay weather-aware and watch for changing conditions throughout the week.
