A man wanted on a Kentucky arrest warrant was taken into custody late last Wednesday following a welfare check in McLeansboro, according to police.
The McLeansboro Police Department reports that around 11:30 p.m., officers received a call from a woman requesting a welfare check on a family member after learning that Marion Brown, who was believed to be staying at the residence, had an outstanding warrant. Authorities confirmed that Brown was wanted in Caldwell County, Kentucky, on charges of second-degree rape and unlawful transaction with a minor.
An officer responded to a residence on North Oak Street and positively identified Brown as he approached the door. Police say that, upon making contact, Brown attempted to escape through the attached garage and fled into the backyard.
Officers pursued Brown on foot to an area of dense brush, where a department-issued Taser was deployed to take him into custody.
Brown was transported to the White County Jail in Carmi on the active Kentucky warrant and was additionally charged locally with resisting a peace officer.
