On Monday, the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association announced that Fairfield Community High School Football Coach, Justin Townsend, has been named to their 2026 Hall of Fame Class. Townsend, along with other coaches, will be inducted on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Hall of Fame Banquet.
HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING:
On Wednesday night, the Fairfield Mules Wrestling team was in action at the Mule Barn for a Tri-Match versus Effingham and Lawrenceville. Fairfield fell to Effingham by a score of 54-22. The Mules picked up 5 wins versus Effingham. Lathan Craft picked up a Technical Fall at 120 lbs., Jedd Wellen picked up a Technical Fall at 126 lbs., Vance Vanway picked up a pinfall victory at 144 lbs., Corbyn Griffith picked up a forfeit at 150 lbs., and Grant Jennette picked up a Technical Fall victory at 195 lbs. Fairfield also picked up 2 exhibition wins from Remi Taylor with a pinfall at 106 lbs. and Aaron Allums with a 17-13 Decision at 138 lbs.
The Mules also fell to Lawrenceville by a score of 60-17. The Mules picked up 3 victories against the Indians. Jedd Wellen with a Technical Fall win at 126 lbs., Vance Vanway with a pinfall at 144 lbs., and Hayden Felowitz with a pinfall at 285 lbs. The Mules also picked up 3 exhibition wins from Corbyn Griffith with a pinfall at 150 lbs., Aaron Allums with a pinfall at 138 lbs., and Braxton Marshel with a 5-2 decision at 215 lbs. The Mules will be back in action again tonight versus Carmi-White County at the Mule Barn.

Udoka was fined 25-thousand dollars for publicly criticizing the officiating in Houston’s 128-125 overtime loss to the Denver Nuggets earlier this week. The coach called the game the most poorly officiated that he has seen in a long time and singled out each official with a negative comment. The deal is expected to land above one-point-seven billion dollars. FSG bought the five-time Stanley Cup winners for 900-million back in 2021, but the team has failed to make the playoffs over the past three seasons.

Fellow receiver Ja’Kobi Lane declared for the draft earlier this week. They will both skip the 16th-ranked Trojans’ matchup against TCU in the Alamo Bowl December 30th.
