The Wayne County Board met in special session Tuesday evening to appoint a candidate to fill the remaining three-year term of the Wayne County Circuit Clerk. Twelve board members were in attendance for the meeting.
Following the call to order, the board entered executive session. After returning to open session, board members voted to appoint Ellen Sitzes, a 24-year employee of the Wayne County Circuit Clerkâs Office, to the position. The appointment was approved by a 9-3 vote. Board members T.J. Vaughan, Matt Shreve, and Bill Bruce abstained from the vote.
Sitzes will fill the remaining term left vacant by current Circuit Clerk Georgianna Fletcher, who is set to step down from the position effective December 28th.
