The Fairfield Memorial Hospital Board earlier this year reached a consensus to “spin off” its Skilled Care Unit.
Hospital Board President Dr. Patrick Molt says that there was never any intention to sell the unit or transfer its ownership. Instead, the board approved moving forward with the necessary paperwork to establish the Skilled Care unit as its own entity—without relocating it from its current site.
The effort is focused on drafting documents to meet Medicare reimbursement requirements. There are no plans to sell the Skilled Care Unit, which has been recognized by US News and World Report as one of “America’s Best Nursing Homes,” earning a five-star rating.
The unit will remain in its current location, under the same ownership, and staffed by existing hospital personnel.
