Raymond Douglas “Doug” Stroud, 69, of Broughton, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at 12:34 a.m. at his home. He was born December 7, 1956 in St. Joseph, MO to James and Mary Stroud. His loving wife, Kim Marie Stroud, of 38 years, survives.
Doug was a United States Navy Veteran, having joined straight out of high school. He served overseas during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge from the military, he had several jobs. He worked for Crownline Boats in West Frankfort, ran an upholstery shop out of Broughton, and started his small business, Southern Custom Foam, where he did foam fabrication for boats and bedding. He enjoyed golfing, cooking, and grilling out. His biggest passion that he shared with his wife, Kim, was his love of riding motorcycles and collecting Harley Davidson memorabilia. Doug and Kim rode through all the states east of the Mississippi, and had hoped to finish all the western states. He was a member of several local biker groups and often participated in charity runs for various organizations including the American Legion and V.F.W.
He is survived by his wife Kim Stroud of Broughton, son Mark (Erika) Delzell of Houston, TX, daughter Kristi (Killian Marcellin) Murdock of Wilmington, NC, son Ryan (Niki) Trusty of Harrisburg, son Jeremy (Stephanie Boeddecker) Stroud of Elk Grove Village, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, son Brandon Douglas Stroud, brother James Donald Stroud, and sister Kay Tipp.
Funeral services for Raymond Douglas “Doug” Stroud will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Gholson Funeral Home of McLeansboro with Pastor Mike Glenn officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place immediately following the funeral service at IOOF Cemetery in Norris City with graveside military honors being conducted by the Carmi American Legion Post #224.
