IDNR Reminding Residents About Deer Hunting Seasons in January

By Mark Wells Dec 27, 2025 | 6:36 AM

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is reminding residents about the upcoming deer hunting season in January.  The season includes the Speical Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) and antlerless deer hunting opportunities.

The special seasons will take place January 1st through 4th and January 16th through 18th.  Hunting will be permitted from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset.   Hunters can take one deer per valid permit during the special CWD season, the normal antlerless deer limit does not apply.  For the Late-Winter Anterless-only season, hunters can use muzzleloaders, shotguns, or handguns to hunt one antlerless deer per permit.
