The Richland County Sheriff’s Office is alerting area businesses to a phone scam involving an individual impersonating a police officer.
According to authorities, the caller identifies himself as Officer Fritz from the Sheriff’s Department and has been contacting businesses in an attempt to obtain employee information or demand cash for alleged warrants.
Officials clarified that there is no Officer Fritz employed by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. They emphasized that the office does not contact individuals by phone to collect personal information, notify them of active arrest warrants, or request money.
