A line of storms that moved through the region on Sunday brought heavy rainfall, strong winds, and property damage.
As the storms passed, the National Weather Service issued several thunderstorm warnings, with a few tornado warnings issued south, north and east of the area.
The National Weather Service office in Paducah reported the following damage across Illinois from Sunday’s storms:
Power lines were knocked down east of Fairfield, trees damaged and uprooted along with some structure damage to businesses.
Trees and power lines were reported down in Albion.
Several trees were down on Kimmel Bridge Road near DeSoto.
A tree fell across Grasty Road in Pope County.
In Mount Vernon, a pole barn roof was blown onto a nearby house, and a 2×4 was driven through the house’s roof.
Officials continue to assess the extent of the damage and remind residents to use caution in affected areas.
