Gerry Carter, 85, of Dundas, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at 3:30 AM, with her daughters by her side. She brought so much joy to those around her, especially with her kind and generous ways. She not only was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, but always put the needs and comfort of others first. She will be greatly missed.

Gerry was born October 4, 1940 in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Marcella (Kistner) Iffert. She was a graduate of West Richland High School, and then married the love of her life, Charles “Floyd” Carter on November 11, 1961 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, and he preceded her in death on January 9, 2023.

Gerry was the best mother and homemaker. She also added her special touch to the community with her “cake decorating.” Although she stated, “I’ll never marry a farmer”, being a farm wife and raising her family with her husband of 61 years was her greatest legacy. Gerry was also a faithful and supportive member of Holy Cross Parish.

Gerry is survived by her three daughters, Karen Carter (Doug Daugherty), Lisa (Bruce) Jackson, and Lori (Timothy “Butch”) Rudolphi; grandchildren, Jessica (Rob) Farabaugh, Josh (Kim) Kapper, Jack (Morgan) Jackson, Jon Jackson (fiancée Peyton), Craig (Shelby) Rudolphi, and Olivia (Jake) Martin; great-grandchildren, Claire, Morgan, and Colin Farabaugh, Karsten, Kadence, and Keaton Kapper, Myles Jackson, Maverick Rudolphi, and Levi Martin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Floyd; siblings, Julia Clow, Carol Kilgore, Ronald Iffert, and John Iffert; four unborn children, and one great granddaughter, Ella Jackson.

The family of Gerry Carter would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to neighbors, friends, and family for all the prayers, love, and acts of kindness. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers for the past three years, and the exceptional care from Compassus Hospice. Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.

Visitation will be held for friends and family from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, January 5, 2026 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, with the Rosary beginning at 3:15 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, with visitation beginning an hour before the Mass. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. If desired, friends and family may make a memorial contribution to Holy Cross Church or Servants of the Redemptor.
