The National Weather Service in Paducah is forecasting a significant shift in weather patterns for the region, with seasonably chilly and dry conditions this weekend giving way to an unseasonable warmup next week.

This weekend will remain cool and mostly dry, as clouds thicken on Saturday and high temperatures settle in the lower 40s. Light northeast winds will help keep the air mass stable and cool across the Tri-State. Sunday continues with mostly cloudy skies and similar temperatures, though a bit of afternoon sunshine may break through before sunset.

The pattern begins to change on Monday, with morning sunshine yielding to increasing afternoon clouds. Highs will again reach the low 40s, with light and variable winds marking a transition period.

A dramatic warmup arrives Tuesday and Wednesday. Southerly winds will usher in much warmer air, sending high temperatures into the mid-50s on Tuesday and pushing close to 60 degrees by Wednesday. Some locations may approach record highs for this time of year. The National Weather Service notes only a small chance of rain late Wednesday.

By Thursday, lingering early clouds will give way to a pleasant afternoon, with highs remaining in the mid-50s. The stretch marks a notable change from the cool weekend, offering a calm and quiet period of weather highlighted by a rapid midweek warmup.
