>>ISP Investigating Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting In East St. Louis

(East St. Louis, IL) — Illinois State police are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting near a convenience store in East St. Louis. Authorities say troopers tried to pull over a stolen vehicle Sunday night in the 45-hundred block of South State Street. The driver put the vehicle in reverse, hitting an ISP squad car. She then drove in the direction of a trooper, who opened fire. The driver, Rachel Tarrence, was shot and taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois Department of Public Health is urging residents to take precautions against the spread of the flu and other seasonal respiratory illnesses. Officials say flu activity in the state has climbed to “Very High” in recent days, while COVID-19 rates have climbed to “Moderate” levels in Illinois. The IDPH recommends getting immunized, washing your hands frequently with soap and water, staying home when you are ill, cover coughs and minimize close contact with sick people.

(Springfield, IL) — A trial date is set for one of the two Springfield EMS workers charged with the murder of Earl Moore Junior. Peggy Finley and Peter Cadigan both face murder charges. They are accused of killing Moore by placing him face down on a stretcher with restraints in December 2022. The judge ruled that their trials can be held separately. Cadigan’s trial will begin on May 11th. No date has been set for Finley’s trial.
