United Way of South Central Illinois will host a free NACA Homebuyer Workshop this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The workshop provides local residents with a proven pathway to homeownership—eliminating traditional financial barriers that often keep families renting. The event will take place at 716 Main Street, Mt. Vernon. Attendees are asked to enter from the west side at the back of the building. Registration is required; walk-ins will not be accepted. To register, visit www.naca.com or call 425-602-6222.
During the workshop, participants will learn how the NACA homeownership program works, who qualifies, the steps needed to become mortgage-ready, and how to begin the NACA counseling and approval process. The workshop is presented in partnership with the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA), a national nonprofit HUD-certified organization known for offering what is widely regarded as the best mortgage in America: no down payment, no closing costs, no fees, no PMI, and a below-market fixed interest rate. This event is ideal for renters, first-time homebuyers, and working families who have been discouraged by credit scores, rising home prices, or lack of savings.
“This is not a sales pitch and it’s not a quick fix,” said Natalie Shook, Executive Director of United Way of South Central Illinois. “It’s a serious, responsible program that helps people become homeowners the right way—and stay homeowners.”
The event is part of United Way’s ongoing commitment to financial stability, neighborhood revitalization, and expanding access to safe, affordable housing throughout South Central Illinois.
