On Thursday night, the Fairfield Lady Mules Basketball team was on the road versus the Robinson Lady Maroons. The Lady Mules lost a heartbreaker to the Lady Maroons by a score of 43-41. Fairfield was led in scoring by Kenry Hutchcraft with 16 points. The Lady Mules will next be in action on Monday at Hamilton County.

The number-16 Illinois Fighting Illini got off to a fast start during an 81-55 win over Rutgers at State Farm Center. The Illini led 43-16 at halftime and were able to coast to victory in the second half. Keaton Wagler scored 17 points in the win, while Tomislav Ivisic finished with 14. Illinois is 3-and-1 in Big Ten play and 12-and-3 overall. The Illini visit number-19 Iowa on Sunday.

(St. Louis, MO) — The St. Louis Cardinals won’t have any arbitration hearings ahead of the 2026 season. The club came to agreements with all seven of its arbitration-eligible players yesterday. All-Star second baseman Brendan Donovan and slugger Nolan Gorman were among those who received contracts for next season. The Cardinals begin Spring Training next month.

Trinidad Chambliss threw for 277 yards and a touchdown for Ole Miss, which finished the season 13-and-2.

(Atlanta, GA) — Two teams will fight for the final spot in the College Football Playoff National Championship. Top-ranked Indiana battles fifth-seeded Oregon in the Semifinal Round at the Peach Bowl from Atlanta tonight at 6:30.. The Hoosiers became the only school with a bye in the new playoff format to advance to the semis after crushing Alabama 38-3 in the last round. Meanwhile, the Ducks dominated Texas Tech 23-0 in the quarters, which marked the first playoff shutout in a decade. The winner will play Miami in the championship on January 19th in Miami Gardens.

The 42-year-old coach went 35-and-33 in his time with the Dolphins which included playoff appearances in his first two seasons. Miami is coming off a 7-and-10 season.

(Lakewood, OH) — Washington Commanders cornerback Marshon Lattimore is facing weapons charges in Ohio. Authorities say Lattimore was stopped in Lakewood on Wednesday for violations including expired license plates. Lattimore was a passenger and did not tell police there were firearms in the vehicle. Police arrested Lattimore on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and improperly handling firearms. The Commanders say they are aware of the situation and are in contact with the League Office.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The Colts appear to be sticking with their signal caller. General manager Chris Ballard said Thursday that he is looking at Daniel Jones in both the near and long term for the starting quarterback spot. Jones led the Colts to an 8-and-2 start before suffering a season-ending torn Achilles in December. He is set to become a free agent in the spring. Ballard mentioned that he isn’t concerned about Jones’ injury complicating contract negotiations.

(Alberta) — Legendary NHL goaltender Glenn Hall has died at the age of 94. A spokesperson for the Chicago Blackhawks announced the Hockey Hall of Famer passed away Wednesday at a hospital in Alberta. Hall, known throughout the league as “Mr. Goalie,” started his career with the Detroit Red Wings and later spent time with the Blackhawks and Saint Louis Blues. He won a Stanley Cup with Chicago in 1961 and later earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP with Saint Louis in 1968. Hall holds the NHL record for 502 consecutive regular-season starts as a goaltender, setting the mark between 1955 and 1963.

(Columbus, OH) — Ohio State is losing yet another top player to the NFL draft. Arvell Reese announced his decision to leave the Buckeyes on Thursday. The linebacker is projected to go fourth-overall, according to ESPN. He’s also the top-ranked off-ball linebacker in the nation. He joins teammates Carnell Tate and Caleb Downs, who are both projected to go within the top-10 of April’s draft.
