Reports out of Jefferson County say a Belle Rive man has been arrested following an investigation into stolen property from a December burglary in Jefferson County.
The Mt. Vernon Police Department Detective Division uncovered information related to the burglary, and detectives worked to secure a search warrant for a Belle Rive residence. The warrant was executed this past Saturday, January 3rd by officers with the Mt. Vernon Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office High Risk Team. 24-year-old David Porter was arrested after police reported finding him in possession of multiple stolen items, including firearms, with one firearm’s serial number defaced.
Porter faces charges of residential burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender, possession of a stolen firearm, and defacing identification marks on a firearm. The Illinois Department of Corrections had issued a parole warrant for Porter earlier this week.
Court records indicated a preliminary hearing for Porter is scheduled for 2 p.m. January 22nd in Jefferson County.
