Fairfield Community High School’s Head Football Coach, Justin Townsend, is set to receive one of the highest honors in Illinois high school sports. Townsend will be inducted into the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association (IHSFCA) Hall of Fame as part of the 2026 class. He has been head coach of the Mules since 2001 and is the winningest coach in Fairfield Mules history with a record of 150-95. He has lead the mules to 37 consecutive conference wins from 2016-2021 and 18 IHSA state playoff appearances.
The induction ceremony, recognizing Townsend and 16 other coaches, will take place on Saturday, March 28th, at 12 noon. The banquet will be held at the I Hotel & Conference Center in Champaign. Those interested in attending can find ticket information at ihsfca.com.
In addition to the IHSFCA honor, Townsend will also be recognized by his alma mater. He is slated for induction into the McKendree Athletics Hall of Fame where he played from 1996 to 1999 and was a 1999 First-Team NAIA All-American and All-Mid-States Football Association selection. That ceremony will be held on Saturday, February 7th.
