GIRL SCOUT COOKIE SEASON OFFICIALLY UNDERWAY IN SOUTHERN ILLINOIS

By Mark Wells Jan 14, 2026 | 11:54 AM

Girl Scout Cookie season has officially kicked off across Southern Illinois, with local Girl Scouts bringing their iconic treats to neighborhoods, storefronts, and online platforms once again. Cookie booths are now popping up throughout the region as girls begin their annual efforts in the world’s largest girl-led entrepreneurial program.

More than just a sweet tradition, the Girl Scout Cookie Program empowers girls with vital life skills such as goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. According to Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois, all proceeds from local sales remain in the region, supporting troop activities, service projects, STEM programs, summer camps, and more.

“When people support the Girl Scout Cookie Program, they aren’t just purchasing cookies. They are fueling experiences and empowering girls to explore new adventures – all while girls gain skills that last a lifetime,” said Loretta Graham, Chief Executive Officer for Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois. “The cookies that customers receive in return are a ‘thank you’ for building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.”

This year, a new cookie called Exploremores™ joins the lineup. Inspired by rocky road ice cream, Exploremores feature chocolate, marshmallow, and toasted almond–flavored crème, highlighting the spirit of adventure at the heart of the Girl Scout mission. Fan favorites like Thin Mints®, Samoas®, and Tagalongs® will also be available.

Customers can find booths or order cookies online by visiting gsofsi.org/findcookies. Supporters are also encouraged to participate in the Bake It Forward program, which donates cookies to H.E.R.O.E.S. Care, an organization that aids military personnel and their families.

The 2026 cookie season runs through March 15th in Southern Illinois. For more information, contact Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois at 800-345-6858 or email customercare@gsofsi.org. The organization serves more than 6,300 girls and nearly 3,600 adult volunteers across 40 counties, with support from United Ways, businesses, and individual donors.
