Joyce Ann (Hungate) Woodward, age 63, of Albion

Joyce Ann (Hungate) Woodward, age 63, of Albion, Illinois, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026, at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Joyce was born on May 13, 1962, in Evansville, Indiana, to Donald Hungate and Doris Clark. She married Walter Woodward on October 21, 2022, in Edwards County, Illinois.

 

Joyce had been employed at Champion Laboratories and the Grayville Huck’s Convenience Store but many will fondly remember her as a friendly cashier at Borowiak’s IGA making grocery shopping a little brighter. She had a love of photographs and jewelry but her beloved grandchildren brought her the most joy.

 

Joyce will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Walter; her mother, Doris Crutchfield; daughter, Donetta Hungate; sons, Dustin Hungate and David Woodward; brothers, Mike Hungate and Roger Crutchfield; and sisters, LaDonna Proctor, Tammy Downs, and Joann Atsinger. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren, Amanda Hungate, Lillie Gibson, Connor Christie, Kayn Christie, Lizabeth Woodward, Trenton Woodward, Eathon Woodward, LeeAnn Woodward, Malachai Hungate, and Melissa Hungate.

 

Joyce is preceded in death by her father, Donald Hungate; stepfather, Tom Crutchfield, and a brother, Stephen Crutchfield.

 

Visitation will be Friday, January 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Nale’s Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois, with graveside services immediately following at Bethel Cemetery near Ellery.
