Rodney Everett Wallace, 79, of Dahlgren

Rodney Everett Wallace, 79, of Dahlgren passed away at 5:45 AM, January 17, 2026 at SSM Health, Mt. Vernon, IL. He was born in McLeansboro, IL. on July 24, 1946, son of Everett Henry and Vera Evelyn (Bishop) Wallace. He married Eva Jean Hart, who survives, on December 27, 1968 in Dahlgren, IL.

He served two tours in Vietnam and finished his naval career in Scotland. He returned home to run the family farm. He continued to farm as long as he was able. He also worked for and retired from the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture Weights and Measures. Rodney loved fast cars and trading machinery and vehicles. He also loved drag racing.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 6-8 PM and funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 PM January 22, 2026, all to be held at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Monsignor Joseph Lawler and Bryan Henderson will officiate. Burial will follow at Richardson Hill Cemetery with military rites.

Mr. Wallace is survived by his wife, Eva, daughter Michele Lynette (Jeff) Lueke, sons Craig Ryan Wallace, Rodney Aaron (Jami) Wallace, and Justin Zebadiah (Jessica) Wallace, grandchildren Emily Ann (Kyle) Summerville, Elijah Anton (Abby) Lueke, Sawyer Uriah Lueke, Samuel Paul Lueke (Ella Reed), Caroline Marie Lueke (Hunter Murphy) , Maizy Grace Nicole Wallace, Henry Grayson Wallace, Leo Morgan Wallace, Cecelia Elizabeth Lueke, Ana Leigh Bullock, Ezra Everett Wallace, Lilly Mae Bullock, Kohen Zebadiah Wallace, Ashton Drake Wallace, two great grandchildren Nolan Wayne Summerville, Stella Rose Summerville, sister Cherlyn Suzanne Wilkey, brothers-in-law Gary (Jeanette) Hart, Tom (Cindy) Hart, Jerry (Heidi) Hart, sisters-in-law Vicki (John) Bowling, Sherry (Steve) Bowling and a brother-in-law Gerald Robertson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Beverly Yvonne Robertson, in-laws Arza and Helen Hart, and brother-in-law Donnie Wilkey

In lieu of flowers you may make donations to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in memory of Jace Bowling and Rodney, St. Jude in memory of Rodney, and/or Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Rodney.
