By Mark Wells Jan 20, 2026 | 5:56 AM

Wayne County 4-H is starting Spark After School, a new program for students in second through eighth grade to explore new interests. Participants do not need to be 4-H members. The program begins in January and runs through early spring in Fairfield, featuring a different topic and hands-on activity each month.

Sessions will be held 4–5 p.m. on January 21st, February 18th, March 18th and April 15th at the Wayne County Extension Office, 2B Frontier Dr., Fairfield. January’s lesson focuses on horses and visual arts, with upcoming topics including aerospace and a “magical swimming fish” project.

Registration is required due to limited space. Sign up online at go.illinois.edu/SparkFairfield or call 618-842-3702. For accommodation requests, contact 4-H coordinator Ryan Littlejohn at rclittle@illinois.edu.
