The Fairfield Grade School Board of Education met last (Tuesday) night with several key items on the agenda.
In the superintendent’s report, the district has received 57 percent of its revenue and spent 51 percent of its budget so far for Fiscal Year 2026. The food service fund balance is currently just over $254,000. Transportation updates included repairs and maintenance on buses one, six, and seven, totaling just over $1,100.
The board also discussed important calendar dates for the 2026-27 school year, with a vote set for next month. A tentative date for eighth grade graduation was set for May 7, 2026. The board held a second reading of updates to the student handbook, reviewed the Fiscal Year 2025 audit, and discussed the recent fire marshal visit along with roof and grant matters at North Side. The math committee reported they will continue with the current math curriculum, with some recommended changes.
After a closed session, the board accepted the resignation of Dewayne Kissner as assistant boys baseball coach. The board also approved destroying closed session audio tapes from July 2023 through June 2024.
