CARMI-WHITE COUNTY INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT:
On Friday, the Fairfield Mules Basketball team traveled to Carmi for the Championship Game of the Carmi-White County Invitational Tournament versus the Mt. Vernon, IN Wildcats. The Mules trailed for the majority of what was a tough, physical game but were able to tie it up late in the 4th Quarter. Fairfield eventually fell to the Wildcats 49 to 47, to finish in 2nd Place, when Mt. Vernon hit a game-winning layup with 4.7 seconds left in the game. The Mules were led in scoring by Jake Easton with 16 points and Owen Gruen with 15. Fairfield’s Owen Gruen and Jake Easton were both named to the All-Tournament team.

Before the start of the tournament on Friday night, long-time Cisne Athletic Director Jeff Baker, who is retiring at the end of the school year, was recognized for running the tournament for the last 25 years. In honor of his service, the tournament has been renamed the Jeff Baker Invitational 7th Grade Tournament.
