The Edwards County Fair is set to bring fresh excitement to this year’s festivities with the addition of a Dirt Track Figure 8 event, scheduled for Tuesday, July 28th. The competition is open to a wide range of vehicles, including cars, trucks, vans, and any other running vehicles, though derby cars are excluded.
Participants will compete for a share of a $3,000 prize purse, divided among three categories based on engine size: four-cylinder, six-cylinder, and eight-cylinder classes. The main attraction of the evening will be the “Chain Race,” where two vehicles are connected bumper-to-bumper with a ten-foot chain. In a twist, drivers must reverse their direction halfway through the race.
Safety regulations require all vehicles to have a cage and rollover bar, as well as clearly visible numbers on top. For additional details or to register for the event, those interested are encouraged to call 618-445-7723.
