POLICE SEARCH FOR SUSPECTS IN EARLY MORNING BANK ROBBERY IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

Multiple police agencies across Southern Illinois are actively searching for suspects involved in an early morning bank robbery in Washington County. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies were dispatched to Ashley Farmers and Merchants Bank at approximately 3:50 a.m. Tuesday following a burglary call. Officers from the Nashville Police Department also responded to the scene.

According to investigators, the suspects fled the bank just moments before law enforcement arrived. Witnesses told authorities that the individuals left the bank on foot before getting into a waiting black Mazda SUV and leaving the area. The exact number of suspects involved has not been released.

The incident is being investigated as a joint, multi-jurisdictional effort involving several law enforcement agencies.
