A group of Republican candidates competing for the Illinois governor’s seat will take part in a candidate forum tonight (Thursday) in Mount Vernon. The event, hosted at the Rolland W. Lewis Building, will showcase contenders appearing on the Republican primary ballot for the March 17th election.

The forum will kick off with introductory remarks from each candidate, followed by a moderated Q&A session focusing on issues that impact both the state as a whole and the Southern Illinois region specifically. Among the candidates slated to participate are former state senator Darren Bailey, policy analyst and former Wirepoints president Ted Dabrowski, and business owner Rick Heidner. Organizers have announced that James Mendrick, another candidate, will not attend due to a last-minute scheduling conflict.

Regional Republican organizations, in collaboration with Americans for Prosperity, are hosting the event. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the forum commencing at 6:30 p.m.
