Sam Dale Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area is now issuing firewood collection permits, according to park officials. A limited number of permits will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
Each permit allows the holder to collect two loads of firewood from the park. Depending on the number of applicants, individuals may be eligible to receive up to three permits per year.
Those interested in obtaining a permit are encouraged to call the site office at 618-835-2922 or visit the Sam Dale Lake office in person. The park is located at 612 County Road 1910 N, Johnsonville.
Park officials remind applicants that permits are limited and encourage early contact to secure one.
