The request follows the demotion of Customs and Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino, who was a central figure leading federal deployments in the Chicago area. Other officials include Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller, and Border Czar Tom Homan. Pritzker established the commission to create a public record of federal law enforcement misconduct.

(Chicago, IL) — Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias is launching a statewide initiative to address the dangers of high-speed e-bikes and scooters. The campaign combines public education, updated driver training and a push for modernized road safety laws. Officials say the e-bike injuries surged by nearly 300-percent nationwide from 2019 to 2022. A Mount Prospect teen was killed last fall when the e-bike he was riding collided with a pickup truck, while an Illinois State University official died in 2022 after he was hit by an e-bike rider in Bloomington-Normal.
