HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL:
On Monday night, the Fairfield Lady Mules Basketball team traveled to Eldorado for a conference matchup with the Lady Eagles. In the JV matchup, Fairfield put on an impressive performance beating the Lady Eagles 45-8 after going on a 30-0 run that extended into the 2nd half. The Lady Mules Varsity squad also put on a dominating performance, defeating the Lady Eagles 66-25. The Lady Mules were led in scoring by Riley Jolly with 13 points followed by Emily Vaughan and Kiersten Vaughan with 11 points apiece. Fairfield now moves to 17-9 overall and 5-3 in the BDC and will next be in action on Thursday night at the Mule Barn for Senior Night versus Hamilton County.

The St. Louis Blues collapsed in the third period during a 6-5 loss to the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena. The Blues raced out to a 5-1 lead before surrendering two goals in the second and three more in the third. Pavel Buchnevich scored twice in the losing effort, while Philip Broberg, Colton Parayko, and Jake Neighbours also lit the lamp. St. Louis is in last place in the Central Division with 49 points. The Blues visit the Stars tomorrow.

Ryan Donato led the Blackhawks to a 6-3 home win over the Sharks. Donato led Chicago with two goals and two assists, while Connor Bedard, Connor Murphy, Sam Rinzel and Ilya Mikheyev added a goal each. Spencer Knight stopped 25 of the 28 shots he faced in net. The Blackhawks snapped a five-game skid to improve to 22-25-and-9 this season. They visit Columbus tomorrow night.

(St. Louis, MO) — The St. Louis Cardinals are moving on from one of their All-Stars. The team traded infielder Brendan Donovan to the Seattle Mariners in a three-team deal yesterday. St. Louis received pitching prospect Jurrangelo Cijntje and outfield prospect Tai Peete from Seattle. The Cardinals also got two comp picks and Rays outfield prospect Colton Ledbetter. Donovan his .287 with ten home runs and 50 RBI’s in 118 games with St. Louis last year.

>>Patriots Talk To Media On Super Bowl Opening Night

(San Jose, CA) — The most successful franchise in NFL history is hoping to add to its legacy. The Patriots talked to the media from Super Bowl 60 Opening Night in San Jose on Monday. New England is appearing in its 12th Super Bowl, which is four more than the 49ers, Broncos, Cowboys and Steelers. The Pats can move past Pittsburgh for most Super Bowl wins in league history if the team can claim their seventh Lombardi Trophy on Sunday against the Seahawks. Seattle hopes to rectify its franchise-altering mistake against New England in Super Bowl 49 where Russell Wilson got picked-off by Malcolm Butler on the goal line. The Hawks have never been back to the big game since.

>>Seahawks Meet The Media At Super Bowl Opening Night

(San Jose, CA) — The Seahawks are setting up to face a familiar foe in Super Bowl 60. Seattle’s players and coaches addressed their upcoming matchup when they hit the stage at Super Bowl Opening Night at the San Jose Convention Center on Monday. The Seahawks square off against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60 on Sunday. They will be aiming to redeem themselves after losing to the Patriots 28-24 in Super Bowl 49 in February 2015. The franchise will be making its fourth appearance in the Big Game, with all four coming in the past 21 seasons. The team is led by quarterback Sam Darnold and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba on offense. They also feature one of the top defenses in the league that has been built by second-year head coach Mike Macdonald.

(San Francisco, CA) — The NFL’s best are gathered in San Francisco for the Pro Bowl Games, which will be held tonight. This is the first time the game will be played in the Bay Area. The Games will feature skills competitions ahead of a 7-and-7 flag football game that will pit players from the AFC and NFC against each other. 49ers legends and Pro Football Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Steve Young will serve as coaches for the event.

>>NFL Announces More International Games

(Undated) — The NFL continues to look for international growth. Commissioner Roger Goodell announced Monday that a regular season game will be played in Mexico City in 2026. The game will be played at Estadio Banorte with the teams to be announced at a later date. It was also announced that the New Orleans Saints will be playing in Paris, which is a first for the league. The NFL is now scheduled to play nine international games during the 2026 season including Melbourne, Rio de Janeiro, Munich, Madrid and London.

(Agoura Hills, CA) — The Rams are locking up their head coach and general manager with new contracts. Los Angeles has signed head coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead to multiyear contract extensions. The duo had previously signed extensions following the team’s victory in Super Bowl 56. Snead has been the GM of the team since 2012, while McVay was hired in 2017. The Rams have gone 92-and-57 during the regular season and have one Super Bowl title since McVay was hired. In other news, the winningest head coach in franchise history said he remains hopeful that quarterback Matthew Stafford will be back for his 18th NFL season in 2026.

>>Broncos Promote QB Coach Davis Webb To OC

(Englewood, CA) — The Broncos did not have to go far to find their new offensive coordinator. Denver is promoting quarterbacks coach Davis Webb to become the team’s next OC after the firing of Joe Lombardi last week. Webb was a hot name on the head coaching carousel over the past month and interviewed for the top position with the Las Vegas Raiders, Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens. It remains unclear if Webb will take over playcalling duties or if head coach Sean Payton will continue to do so moving forward. In other news, Logan Kilgore has been promoted to quarterbacks coach after serving as an offensive assistant for the past three seasons.

(Undated) — Anthony Weaver is reportedly heading back to the Ravens to become their defensive coordinator. Baltimore drafted Weaver in the second round of the 2002 and he played four seasons with the franchise as a defensive end. He returned on the sidelines as a defensive assistant from 2021 to 2023. He has been the DC for the Miami Dolphins for the past two seasons.

>>Report: Titans To Name Bradley DC

(Nashville, TN) — The Titans will reportedly hire Gus Bradley as their defensive coordinator. The longtime DC had previous stops with the Seahawks, Chargers, Raiders and Colts, as well as three years of head coaching experience with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He coached alongside Tennessee head coach Robert Saleh with the San Francisco 49ers this season.

>>Florida State OC Gus Malzahn Retires

(Tallahassee, FL) — Florida State needs a new offensive coordinator. Gus Malzahn announced his retirement on Monday. The 60-year-old spent this past season with the Seminoles after stepping down at UCF. Malzahn went 105-and-62 as a head coach and helped guide Auburn to a national championship appearance against Florida State in 2013. He also had a head coaching stint at Arkansas State.

>>Report: Clippers, Harden Exploring Trade

(Undated) — An 11-time NBA All-Star may be on the move prior to the trade deadline Thursday. ESPN is reporting that the LA Clippers and superstar guard James Harden are working through whether the sides can come to terms on a trade agreement with another team this week. The 36-year-old is under contract for 39.2-million-dollars this season and has a player option for 42.3-million-dollars next season. Harden has veto power on any potential trade since his contract is technically just for one season. He is averaging 25.4 points and 8.1 assists through 44 games played.

(Undated) — The top of the latest men’s college basketball coaches poll remains the same. Arizona is once again leading the nation and followed by Michigan, UConn and Duke. Gonzaga is up one spot to number five, while Illinois, Iowa State, Houston, Nebraska and Michigan State round out the remainder of the top 10. Texas A and M is number 25 after not being included in last week’s poll. Alabama and Iowa are the two schools that dropped out of the top 25.
