HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL:
On Tuesday night, the Fairfield Mules and Wayne City Indians Basketball met up for their annual clash on a night that was focused on the Wayne County CEO program. The Fresh/Soph Mules started off the night with a 35-31 win over the Indians. In the JV Contest, Fairfield pulled out a late 43-42 victory behind a 3-pointer from Cooper Berg with 12 seconds left in the game. In the Varsity game, the Mules dominated from the start and came away with a 69-40 win over the Indians to claim bragging rights. Fairfield was led in scoring by Jake Easton and Owen Gruen, each with 15 points. The Mules will be back in action Friday night on the road at Eldorado.

The Chicago Bulls were outclassed by the Milwaukee Bucks during a 131-115 loss at Fiserv Forum. The Bulls trailed by as many as 26 points in the losing effort. Matas Buzelis led Chicago with 22 points, while Coby White finished with 21 points and ten rebounds. The Bulls are in tenth place in the Eastern Conference at 24-and-27. Chicago visits Toronto tomorrow. The Chicago Bulls are busy ahead of tomorrow’s NBA Trade Deadline. The team made a pair of trades yesterday. Chicago sent Kevin Huerter and Dario Saric to Detroit and received Jaden Ivey and Minnesota’s Mike Conley in the first deal. The Bulls also acquired Boston’s Anfernee Simons in a deal that sent Nikola Vucevic to the Celtics. Chicago has until 2:00PM tomorrow to make more trades.

>>Illini Host Northwestern

(Champaign, IL) — The number-six Illinois Fighting Illini go for their 12th win in a row when they host Northwestern at State Farm Center tonight. Illinois just earned a 78-69 win over number-nine Nebraska on the road on Sunday. The Illini are 10-and-1 in Big Ten play and 19-and-3 overall. Meanwhile, Northwestern is 2-and-9 in conference play and 10-and-12 overall after losing to Washington 76-62 at home on Saturday. Tonight’s game tips off at 8:00pm and can be heard on WFIW-AM 1390 and FM 103.3 on the Illini Sports Radio Network. The pregame show starts at 7:00pm.

(St. Louis, MO) — The 2028 Summer Olympics are coming to St. Louis. Energizer Park will be one of seven MLS stadiums used in the 2028 Games. St. Louis will host matches in both the group stage and early knockout rounds before the tournament ends at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles. Registration for the event’s ticket draw is open until March 18th.

(San Francisco, CA) — The NFC has claimed its fourth straight flag football victory at the 2026 Pro Bowl Games. The NFC toppled the AFC 66-52 in the seven-on-seven flag football matchup at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The NFC trailed by 10 points at halftime before outscoring the AFC 30-8 in the second half. The defense used three turnovers to stymie the AFC and the offense was led by quarterbacks Dak Prescott, Jalen Hurts and Jared Goff. The defensive MVP of the game was Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield Jr., while Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens was named the offensive MVP.

(Undated) — The Patriots are once again being left out of Canton. According to ESPN, Pats owner Robert Kraft was not selected for entry into this year’s Pro Football Hall of Fame class. Kraft was a first-time Hall of Fame finalist this year, but did not receive enough votes to be included in the Class of 2026. He was a finalist alongside former head coach Bill Belichick, and players Roger Craig, Ken Anderson and LC Greenwood. The official announcement will be Thursday night at the NFL Honors in San Francisco.

(East Rutherford, NJ) — The Giants have settled on a new OC. According to ESPN, the G-Men are hiring Matt Nagy to be their offensive coordinator. Nagy had been the OC for the Kansas City Chiefs each of the past three seasons. Prior to that he spent time as the head coach of the Chicago Bears. Giants head coach John Harbaugh chose Nagy after former Baltimore offensive coordinator Todd Monken was hired as the Browns new head coach.

(Atlanta, GA) — The Falcons aren’t sure if they have a locked-in starter for next season. That’s according to team president Matt Ryan, who told the media on Tuesday that new head coach Kevin Stefanski will make the call on who starts under center. He said there will be “a lot of discussions” about the entire roster. Michael Penix Jr. is recovering from a torn ACL and veteran Kirk Cousins finished out the year 5-and-3.

(Undated) — The Clippers and Cavaliers are swapping star guards ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline. ESPN reports that Los Angeles is sending James Harden to Cleveland in exchange for Darius Garland and a second-round pick. The deal came together quickly after it was reported Monday that the Clippers and Harden were working on a deal to move him before the deadline. The 36-year-old is averaging 25.4 points through 44 games this season. He is in the first year of a two-year, 81.5-million-dollar deal that he can opt out of following the season. The two-time All-Star Garland is averaging 18 points through 26 games.

(Undated) — LeBron James is not expecting to be part of any NBA trade deadline deals this season. ESPN is reporting that James is expected to finish out the season with the Los Angeles Lakers despite several teams considered to be potential future destinations for his services reportedly involved in talks to acquire star-level talent. The 41-year-old has a no-trade clause and would have to approve of any deal the Lakers could try to put together. James is averaging 21.9 points through 31 games played this season.

(Undated) — The Celtics are adding to their frontcourt in advance of the NBA trade deadline. According to ESPN, Boston has acquired center Nikola Vucevic from Chicago. The Bulls are receiving guard Anfernee Simons and a second round pick from the C’s. Vucevic is averaging just under 17 points to go along with nine rebounds per game this season. Simons has averaged a little over 14 points per game off the bench for Boston.

(Undated) — The NBA’s trade season got off to a hot start Tuesday with the Grizzlies reportedly sending Jaren Jackson Jr. to the Jazz as part of an eight-player deal. ESPN reports that Jackson will be sent alongside guards John Konchar and Vince Williams Jr., and center Jock Landale to Utah in exchange for guard Walter Clayton, forwards Kyle Anderson, Taylor Hendricks and Georges Niang and three future first-round picks. Jackson is averaging 19.2 points per game this season.

ESPN is reporting that Golden State has involved Draymond Green in active trade conversations in advance of Thursday’s trade deadline. Reports are indicating that Green has been involved in the framework of a potential deal to add superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo [[ YAHN-iss ah-dedo-KOON-bo ]] from the Milwaukee Bucks. The four-time All-Star is averaging 8.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.4 assists through 41 games played this season.

The starting date of the race was moved after Winston-Salem got pounded with snow over the weekend. The regular season opener takes place at classic Daytona with a pair of qualifying races next Thursday.
