The St. Louis Blues surrendered a late goal during a 5-4 loss to the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center. Alexey Toropchenko tied the game at four with under five minutes left in regulation before Dallas’ Jamie Benn knocked in the game-winner in the final minute. Pavel Buchnevich, Jordan Kyrou, and Jimmy Snuggerud also lit the lamp in the losing effort. St. Louis remains in last place in the Central Division with 49 points. The Blues host Seattle on February 26th. The St. Louis Blues are beginning to sell off their roster. The team traded forward Nick Bjugstad to the New Jersey Devils yesterday. The Blues received forward Thomas Bordeleau and a fourth-round pick from the Devils tom complete the deal. Bjugstad had six goals and one assist in 35 games with St. Louis this season.

The Chicago Blackhawks couldn’t get the puck past Jet Greaves during a 4-0 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena. The Blackhawks gave up two goals in the first period and trailed the rest of the way. Spencer Knight made just 16 saves in the losing effort. Chicago is in sixth place in the Central Division with 53 points. The Hawks visit Nashville on February 26th.

The Illini raced out to a 47-19 halftime lead and never looked back. Andrej Stojakovic scored 17 points in the victory. Illinois improved to 11-and-1 in Big Ten play and 20-and-3 overall, while Northwestern is 2-and-10 in conference play and 10-and-13 overall. (Santa Clara, CA) — The Seahawks will try to avenge their worst loss in franchise history this Sunday. The team squares off against the Patriots in Super Bowl 60 from Santa Clara. When it comes to the team, Seattle hopes to erase a heartbreaking, Super Bowl 49 loss to New England where Russell Wilson threw a goal-line interception to end their shot at back-to-back Lombardi trophies. This is the first time the Hawks are back in the big game since that moment in 2015.

(Santa Clara, CA) — The Patriots hit the practice field Wednesday to continue their preparation for Super Bowl 60. New England is setting up to face the Seattle Seahawks in the Big Game in Santa Clara on Sunday. Quarterback Drake Maye was a full participant in practice after popping up on the injury report last week with a shoulder injury. Linebacker Harold Landry the Third was limited during the session while fellow linebacker Robert Spillane was the lone player that did not participate. Spillane mentioned earlier in the day that he was confident he would be able to play Sunday after aggravating a previous ankle injury in the AFC Championship Game. The Patriots are aiming for an NFL-record seventh Super Bowl title.

(Lake Forest, IL) — The Chicago Bears have a new running backs coach. The team hired Eric Studesville to the position yesterday. Studesville was an assistant in Chicago from 1997 until 2000, and he worked with head coach Ben Johnson for a couple of seasons in Miami. He replaces Eric Bieniemy, who was hired to become the offensive coordinator of the Chiefs last month.

(Atlanta, GA) — The Hawks are swinging a major deal. ESPN reports the team acquired Jonathan Kuminga from the Warriors late Wednesday night. Buddy Hield is also heading to the Peach State in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis. Kuminga is averaging more than 12 points in 20 games this season while Hield averages eight points through 44 games played. Porzingis is once again dealing with an injury-plagued season and is averaging just over 17 points in 17 games.

(Undated) — The Anthony Davis era in Dallas has come to a close. ESPN is reporting that the Mavericks are trading the 10-time All-Star to the Washington Wizards as part of a deal that includes eight total players and five future draft picks. The Mavs are sending Davis, Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell and Dante Exum to Washington in exchange for Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley the Third, two first-round picks and three second-round selections. The 32-year-old Davis is averaging 20.1 points and 11.1 rebounds in 20 games played this season.

(Undated) — The Clippers have finally found a new home for Chris Paul after parting ways with him in early December. ESPN reports that Los Angeles is sending Paul to the Toronto Raptors as part of a three-team trade that also includes the Brooklyn Nets. The Raptors will acquire the 12-time All-Star but will not require him to report to the team and could still discuss moving him before Thursday’s trade deadline. The Clippers are acquiring the draft rights to Vanja Marinkovic [[ VON-yuh ma-RIN-ko-vitch ]] in the deal, while the Nets are adding Ochai Agbaji [[ OH-cheye uh-BAH-jee ]] and a second-round pick.

(Cleveland, OH) — The Cavaliers are still tweaking their roster. ESPN reports the team sent Lonzo Ball to the Jazz on Wednesday following the James Harden blockbuster trade. Cleveland got two second-round picks from Utah, which is expected to waive the veteran point guard. Ball became expendable after the Harden and Dennis Schroder [[ SHROO-der ]] deals the Cavs made over the past week. The Hawks were also part of the Ball trade and landed center Jock Landale from the Jazz for cash considerations.

(Philadelphia, PA) — The 76ers are clearing out their busy backcourt. ESPN reports the team traded Jared McCain to the Thunder on Wednesday in exchange for a 2026 first-round pick originally belonging to the Rockets and the three second-rounders. The guard was taken 16th-overall in the 2024 draft and is averaging just under seven points per game this season. McCain sunk more than 15 points per game last year before suffering a season-ending injury.

(Undated) — The Bulls made another deal before the NBA trade deadline. According to ESPN, Chicago is sending guards Coby White and Mike Conley to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for guard Collin Sexton, forward Ousmane Dieng, and three second round picks. Charlotte had acquired Dieng and a second rounder from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for center Mason Plumlee. Dieng was then dealt to Chicago to complete the transaction.

(Undated) — The Rangers made a move before the NHL roster freeze. According to ESPN, the Blueshirts are sending forward Artemi Panarin to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for prospect Liam Greentree and a conditional third-round pick. Panarin has agreed to a two-year, 11-million-dollar extension with Los Angeles. New York is retaining 50 percent of Panarin’s salary for this season. Players can no longer be traded until the league’s Olympic roster freeze ends on February 23rd.

(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago Cubs are bolstering their infield depth. The team signed Owen Miller to a minor league contract yesterday. The deal includes an invitation to Spring Training later this month. Miller spent the 2025 season with Colorado. He hit .143 with one RBI and one stolen base in nine games last year.

(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago White Sox have a new outfielder. The team signed Austin Hays to a one-year deal worth six million dollars yesterday. The contract includes a mutual option for 2027. Hays was with the Reds in 2025. He hit .266 with 15 home runs and 54 RBI’s in 103 games with Cincinnati last year.

(Undated) — Another big-name MLB free agent is finally off the market, as the Tigers will sign southpaw Framber Valdez. According to MLB.com, Detroit will ink Valdez to a three-year, 115-million dollar contract. Last season, the 32 year old went 13-and-11 with a 3.60 ERA with the Astros. Valdez has made two All-Star games in his eight-year career, all of which were spent in Houston.

(Scottsdale, AZ) — The Waste Management Phoenix Open tees off from TPC Scottsdale on Thursday. A new champion will be crowned with Thomas Detry not participating in tournament. Detry won last year’s event by seven strokes after finishing atop the leaderboard at 24 under par. Christiaan Bezuidenhout [[ bih-ZAY-din-oat ]], Rasmus Hojgaard and Kevin Roy will be among the first group of players teeing off the opening round.

(Winston-Salem, NC) — Ryan Preece is starting the NASCAR Cup Series season on a high. The driver of the Number-60 car held off William Byron to take home the checkered flag in the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium. Ryan Blaney, Daniel Suarez and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top-five finishers in the preseason tune-up. The regular season opener kicks off at Daytona with a pair of qualifying races next Thursday.
