EDWARDS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO ADDRESS KEY ISSUES AT FEBRUARY 9TH MEETING

The Edwards County Commissioners are set to convene for their next regular meeting on Monday, February 9th at the Edwards County Courthouse. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. and is open to the public.

Among the topics to be discussed are updates from Sheriff Darby Boewe, approval of an agreement with the University of Illinois Extension presented by Tara Buerster, and a report from the County Health Office.

A joint agreement for the 900 E Bridge over Indian Creek on the docket, along with a County Highway building update to be discussed during executive session. The board will also consider an update on the Albion PV1 Solar Project and review a lease agreement for pre-trial services.

Other agenda items include the approval of trustee resolutions from recent tax sale sealed bids, a proposed mileage rate increase for 2026, and the approval of a farmland lease agreement for the coming year.

Environmental matters will be addressed with a review of the county’s waste management plan to ensure compliance with EPA regulations, as well as discussion of landfill operations and a proposed zoning ordinance.

The commissioners will also hear from Janice Crow on behalf of Birth to Five Illinois: Region 20 and review a Bureau Certification Letter from Discover Downstate Illinois. Additional business will include updates from EMS, the County Clerk, Prairie Press Publications, and time set aside for correspondence, discussion, and the approval and payment of claims.

The meeting will conclude with recess or adjournment. Community members with an interest in county affairs are encouraged to attend.
