35-year-old Michael A. Hays of Grayville is set to face trial this week in Wayne County Circuit Court on burglary and theft charges. Hays was charged on February 7th, 2020, with burglary, a Class 2 felony, and theft, a Class 3 felony.
Following years of delays, Judge Denton Aud has ordered that no further continuances will be granted, setting the stage for trial. A final pretrial hearing was held yesterday (Monday) with jury selection and trial proceedings scheduled to begin today (Tuesday).
Hays has been out on bond since July 2023.
