B.C. Williams Bakery Service, Inc. has upgraded its voluntary recall of Spice Cake Mix, Bread and Roll Mix, and Swiss Chocolate Cake Mix to a Class One risk, the FDA’s most serious recall category.
The recall, first issued on December 23rd, was due to the presence of undeclared milk allergens—posing a potentially life-threatening risk to those with milk allergies. The FDA requires all major allergens to be clearly identified on food labels, as reactions can range from mild to severe.
The Class One designation means there is a reasonable probability that using or being exposed to these products could cause serious health consequences or death.
