AREA SPORTS RESULTS FROM FRIDAY:

HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL:

On Friday night, the Fairfield Mules Basketball team was in action at the Mule Barn in a conference matchup with the Edwards County Lions.  The Mules Freshman squad opened the night with a 25-22 win over the Lions.  Fairfield’s JV Squad also got the win over Edwards County 35-27.  Cooper Berg led the JV team in scoring with 21 points.  In the Varsity contest, the Mules picked up an impressive 50-35 victory behind Breychan Kovacich’s 13 points.  With the win, Fairfield clinches the BDC East Conference Championship, which is the 10th for Coach Scott McElravy.  The Mules will be back in action again today at the Mule Barn for a matchup with the Newton Eagles.

Olympic Men’s Figure Skating

The gold medal favorite in men’s figure skating, American Ilia Malinin, failed to collect any medal after falling twice during Friday’s men’s free skate program and finishing 8th overall.  Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Shaidorov outscored the field by 11 points to earn the gold medal.
