A nationwide recall has been issued for Tippy Toes brand Apple Pear Banana Fruit puree baby food, after Initiative Foods detected elevated levels of patulin—a toxin produced by mold—in the product.

According to the FDA, patulin is a naturally occurring substance that can develop in various fruits. Long-term exposure may cause immune suppression, nerve damage, headaches, fever, and nausea.

No illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled baby food. Families who have purchased the product are urged to stop using it and return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
