HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL:
On Friday night, the Fairfield Mules Basketball team celebrated Senior Night at the Mule Barn against long-time conference rival the Carmi-White County Bulldogs. The Freshman Mules kicked off the night with a 48-23 victory over the Bulldogs. In the JV contest, Fairfield continued the winning trend, with an impressive 64-42 win over Carmi behind 18 points from Cooper Berg. In between the JV and Varsity games, Fairfield recognized its 3 Senior basketball players, Jake Easton, Lane Robson, and Keegan Downen. Also during halftime, long-time Fairfield scoreboard operator, Ron Gain was recognized for 40 years of service for the Mules and Lady Mules. After the Senior Night activities, the Varsity Mules took the court looking to complete the season sweep of the Bulldogs. After having only a 4-point lead at halftime, Fairfield pulled away in the 2nd half to close out their regular season finale with a 51-39 victory. Jake Easton led the Mules scoring with 11 points. The Mules finish the regular season 19-11 and 9-1 in the BDC East and will start their postseason run on Wednesday at the Vandalia Regional against the winner of Richland County versus Effingham.
