The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Fairfield Rural Fire Department, and Wayne County Ambulance responded to a motor vehicle crash just after 4 a.m. Saturday on Illinois Highway 15, west of Fairfield near the construction zone.
Upon arrival the occupants were no longer on scene. Deputies located the driver at Mach 1 Gas Station and after conducting further investigation placed the driver, 21-year-old, Colton M. Berk of Woodlawn, Il into custody for Aggravated Driving Under the Influence. A passenger from the vehicle was transported to Fairfield Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries
The accident was reported by a passerby who noticed a passenger vehicle with its driver’s side door open and no one around the vehicle.
