EARLY VOTING UNDERWAY FOR ILLINOIS GENERAL PRIMARY ELECTION

By Mark Wells Feb 23, 2026 | 11:56 AM

Early voting for the upcoming General Primary Election in Illinois continues through March 16th, the day before the Primary Election on March 17th. Registered voters can cast their ballots at their respective County Clerk’s offices, which are open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Illinois voters are reminded that the state does not require party affiliation at registration. Instead, voters select which party’s ballot they wish to vote on when participating in the primary election, and they may change their choice of party in each primary.

Voters should also note that if they select a non-partisan ballot when applying for a Vote-by-Mail ballot, they may not receive a ballot if there are no non-partisan issues on the primary ballot.

For more information, visit the State Board of Elections website or contact your County Clerk’s Office.
