Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 40-year-old Ryan J. Musgrave of Cisne early Sunday morning following a violent domestic incident and shots fired at a rural residence.
According to authorities, deputies were dispatched at approximately 12:20 a.m. to a home near Cisne for a report of domestic violence and gunfire. The victim reported being battered by Musgrave, who allegedly yelled, “where is my meth bag,” before the altercation escalated. The victim managed to escape toward their vehicle as Musgrave allegedly made threats to kill them and their parents.
As the victim fled, Musgrave reportedly opened fire with a handgun, striking the rear window and leaving multiple bullet holes in the vehicle. Deputies confirmed damage consistent with gunfire upon arrival at the scene.
A search for Musgrave led deputies to his residence, where he was located pulling into his driveway around 5:00 a.m. Musgrave reportedly refused to comply with officers, fleeing around his property in his vehicle before eventually stopping. Deputies then took Musgrave into custody without further incident and recovered a suspected firearm from his truck.
A search warrant was executed at the residence, and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit assisted in collecting evidence.
Musgrave faces several preliminary charges, including:
Attempted Murder (720 ILCS 5/8-4(b))
Aggravated Domestic Battery (720 ILCS 5/12-3.3)
Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (720 ILCS 5/24-1.2)
Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police (625 ILCS 5/11-204)
Musgrave remain in the Wayne County Jail pending a court appearance. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the incident.
