Janet K. Hook, age 81, of Dahlgren, Illinois, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026 surrounded by her husband and children at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.
Janet was born January 25, 1945 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Paul and Louise Trotter. Janet was the beloved wife of Gary Hook, whom she married on November 9, 1963 in Dahlgren, Illinois.
Janet graduated from Dahlgren High School and went on to Lockyear Business College in Evansville, Indiana. She went on to work for the Social Security Administration in Mt. Vernon, Illinois until 1981. She then turned to her love of family and stayed on the farm to help in the farming operation and gardening.
She was heavily involved in her church, Dahlgren Community Chapel, where she filled in playing piano, singing harmony with ease and helping with anything that needed her attention.
By far, her greatest joys were the grandchildren and great grandchildren. You could find her on any given day at a swim meet, basketball game, baseball/softball game, volleyball, cross country meet or tennis match with a cold Diet Mt. Dew in hand and cheering loudly. She also loved taking in a good movie with a big bowl of buttered popcorn.
She was a loving mother to daughter Michelle Kauble, wife of David, son Greg Hook, husband of Shelley, daughter Lynnette Davenport, wife of Michael, her treasured grandchildren, Jordan Adams & husband Kody, Alexandria Kauble, Logan Kauble, Evan Hook, Cooper Hook, Seth Davenport, Ava Davenport, great-grandchildren Belle Adams & Leo Adams.
She was preceded in death by her parents Paul & Louise Trotter and her brother Paul Emery Trotter.
Funeral services for Janet K. Hook will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren, IL with Pastor John Hefner officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27 at Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren. Interment will follow the funeral service at I.O.O.F. “Oddfellows” Cemetery in Dahlgren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Janet’s memory may be made to Fairfield Memorial Hospital, 3rd Floor, Skilled Care and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home.
