IHSA BOYS CLASS 2A VANDALIA REGIONAL:
On Friday night, the Fairfield Mules Basketball team faced off with the host Vandalia Vandals in the Championship game of the Class 2A Vandalia Regional. After kicking off the night with a 3-pointer from Breychan Kovacich, the Mules led from buzzer to buzzer,
at one point leading the Vandals by 15 points. Fairfield weathered a late push by Vandalia and pulled away late in the 4th quarter, closing out the game with a 67-56 final score to give the Mules their first Regional title since 2019. Fairfield’s Owen Gruen led all scorers with 22 points. The Mules will now travel to the Monticello Sectional next Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. matchup against Tolono-Unity.
