In response to higher-than-normal natural gas bills due to recent extreme cold and rising gas prices, the Village of Cisne will not charge penalties on March gas bills, according to Village Collector Jennifer Eckleberry.
Residents will have 31 days from March 1st to pay their bills in full, offering more flexibility than the standard deadline. Payments can be made weekly, bi-weekly, or in any installment plan that works best for each household.
“We hope this will help ease some of the stress,” Eckleberry said, referencing the challenges that come with high utility costs. The move follows similar actions by the village in past periods of elevated energy prices.
Eckleberry also thanked residents who responded to last month’s advisory by lowering their thermostats to reduce costs.
