David Wayne Hensley, 66, of Grayville, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at The Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on Friday, June 19, 1959, in Charleston, Illinois, the son of Ernest Junior and Patsy Ann (Cowling) Hensley.
David graduated from Spartanburg Technical College with an Associates Degree in Finance. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. David enjoyed metal detecting, gold prospecting, thrift shopping, mountain biking, camping, riding dune buggies, finishing motorcycles, and riding dirt bikes. He also had an impressive vintage pipe collection. Most of all, David enjoyed being around his family and friends.
David is survived by siblings, Lisa (Rodney) Weedon, of Fairfield, IL, Ina (Stephen) Sneed of Grayville, IL. and Anita (Ronald) Adams of Evansville, IN; nieces and nephews, Ben Weedon, Casey Weedon, Joshua Hensley, Megan Hanmore and Tempest Rodgers; a special aunt, Brenda; a special cousin, John Herrington; and many cousins he loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a niece, Amber Adams Herron.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Northside Church in Grayville, Illinois, with inurnment at Oak Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Linda E. White Hospice or to Wounded Warriors. Roberts and Cook Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
