Sponsored by the Friends of Groff Library, the event will delve into the dramatic history of crime in Southern Illinois. Troy Taylor will guide attendees through the notorious era of gambling, bootlegging, and gangsters, sharing stories of infamous figures such as Charlie Birger and the Shelton Brothers. While cities like Chicago are often remembered for their violent crime sprees, Taylor will reveal the bloody and fascinating legacy of Southern Illinois gangs, whose legends were marked by murder, mayhem, and mystery.
