Thousands of above-ground swimming pools made by Evajoy are being recalled due to child drowning dangers, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced. The recall affects pools 48-inches tall or higher, manufactured by Evajoy, a company based in China, and sold on Amazon.
According to the CPSC, a compression strap that wraps around the outside of the pool and over the vertical support poles can act as a foothold, making it possible for a child to climb into the pool even when the ladder has been removed.
Evajoy is providing a free repair kit to pool owners to address the issue. Until the kit arrives, the CPSC urges owners to ensure children cannot access the pool without supervision or to drain the pool completely to prevent accidents.
Parents and pool owners are advised to take immediate action to keep children safe and follow all safety recommendations while waiting for the repair kit.
