Johnsonville Elementary School has announced important dates for families with young children as it prepares for the upcoming 2026-27 school year.
Kindergarten registration at Johnsonville Elementary will take place on Thursday, March 12th from 8:30am to 5:30pm. The event is open to all children who will be entering kindergarten in the fall. To be eligible for enrollment, children must be five years old by September 1, 2026.
Parents are asked to bring a certified copy of their child’s birth certificate (available from the courthouse) and their child’s social security number. Immunization records, proof of an eye exam, and verification of lead screening will also be required by the first day of school.
During registration, parents will provide the necessary paperwork and have the opportunity to meet with the kindergarten teacher. The school nurse will also be available to answer questions. To schedule a registration appointment, parents should call the school office at 618-673-3044.
North Wayne Schools will also conduct a Child Find/Preschool Screening for children ages 3 to 5 who are not yet enrolled in public school and are not yet eligible for kindergarten. The screening is scheduled for April 20th at Johnsonville from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
This free program will check each child’s progress in hearing, vision, speech, language, and coordination skills, providing parents with immediate feedback on their child’s development. Head Start representatives may be available to share information about their services.
The screening takes approximately 45 minutes, and appointments are required to minimize wait times. Parents in the North Wayne School District are encouraged to call 618-673-3044 to schedule an appointment or to learn more.
