Sharon Lea (Flannigan) Smith, 83, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at her home. Sharon was born on August 24, 1942 in McLeansboro, IL to Eual & Bonnie (Duncan) Flannigan. On June 4, 1961 she married Larry Cecil Smith, who preceded her in death on October 13, 2020.
Sharon was a Home Health Caregiver for Addus HomeCare and had worked at several other previous occupations. She was a member of the Wayne City Baptist Church in Wayne City.
Sharon had a great sense of humor and the ability to recall even the smallest details when telling a story. She enjoyed shopping and eating at Cracker Barrel, collecting Cardinal decor, and the legendary music of Elvis Presley. Prior to her husband’s passing, the couple enjoyed camping at various locations. More than anything, Sharon loved being in the presence of her family, especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who endearingly called her “Grandma Shay-Shay.”
Sharon is survived by 2 daughters: Sondra Holleman of Wayne City and Kellie (Brett) Brashear of Iuka, IL; 5 grandchildren: Cory (Emmalee) Holleman, Chelsea (Ryan) Greene, Jessica Canon, Clinton (Emily) Brashear, and Cassie (Jamie) Nattier; 12 great-grandchildren, a brother Don Flannigan of Mt. Vernon, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Eual & Bonnie Flannigan, her husband Larry Cecil Smith, and a brother Ronald Flannigan.

Public visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. The family will have a private visitation prior to opening to the public at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow the funeral service at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
