Illinois gubernatorial candidate and former State Senator Darren Bailey has announced that he will miss the next several days of the statewide “Get Out the Vote” Bus Tour. The news comes after the passing of Bailey’s late daughter-in-law Kelsey Bailey’s father, after a battle with cancer.
Bailey is expected to rejoin the bus tour later this weekend and remain on the tour for its duration. Lt. Governor candidate Aaron Del Mar will attend all scheduled events across the state in the meantime.
Bailey expressed his desire to be able to comfort his grandson Finn stating, “These last few months have been incredibly difficult for Finn as he has already lost his mother, his father, and two siblings.” Bailey also stated that “I would love to be able to stay on the tour and continue meeting with the great people of Illinois, but right now our family needs to be there for Finn.”
